Zurab Tsereteli took part in the unveiling of the 6.5m tall “Army Skier” monument. The ceremony was taken in the military and patriotic park “Patriot”, offering a lot of information and artefacts about the WWI Great Victory.
The sculpture was installed at the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Pervomaiskaya Street next to the building of the children's library. This intersection has traditionally been the place where the Tula have been making appointments. The “Meeting Place” is the second sculptural composition by Zurab Tsereteli, made for Tula city (in 2015, a monument of the writer Gleb Uspensky, a native of Tula, was unveiled in the city). The bust is installed in front of the main entrance to Lazhechnikov House Museum, who was one of the founders of the Russian historical novel genre. The Head of Kolomna City District D. Lebedev, the members of the Russian Academy of Arts, as well as representatives of the general public attended the opening ceremony.
The sculpture was installed in the newly renovated park, which provides recreation areas for adults and children. Nearby, on Pushkin Street, there is a comprehensive school and the central city library. Thus, with the monument of Alexander Pushkin hitherto recreation park became a space for various creative events.
